We are working with a leading façade contractor who are expanding their in‑house design and engineering capability. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well‑established organisation operating at the forefront of the façade remediation sector. The Role
- As a Structural Engineer, you will play a key part in the design and delivery of façade remediation projects.
- Your responsibilities will include:
- Producing structural calculations for façade systems, including wind load, peak velocity, static and fixing calculations.
- Engineering checks for SFS, top hats, C‑channels, brackets, support components etc.
- Designing and reviewing proposals in line with RIBA Stages 3‑5.
- Working on temporary works assessments and analysing load‑bearing capacity of existing steel or concrete structures.
Technical & Regulatory
- Applying current legislation including the Building Safety Act 2022 and Higher‑Risk Building Regulations (2023).
- Ensuring designs align with CWCT guidance and Part A of the Building Regulations.
- Attending site surveys, sketching existing details and converting them into CAD drawings.
Collaboration & Communication
- Working closely with an internal design team and pre‑construction department.
- Communicating directly with clients during design meetings and progress updates.
- Supporting and mentoring junior engineers where needed.
About You
- We’re looking for someone who can bring both technical strength and strong communication skills. You should have:
- Chartered status (IStructE/ICE) or actively working towards it.
- Experience producing structural calculations for façade, cladding or external envelope systems.
- Good understanding of construction detailing.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Strong knowledge of relevant building regulations and façade industry standards.
- Experience in façade remediation or fire‑safety related projects (desirable).
- Familiarity with Gateway 2 / Higher‑Risk Building processes (desirable).
