A well-established groundworks and RC frame subcontractor is looking to appoint a Graduate Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor with up to 3-4 years' experience to support its growing commercial team. The role will be predominantly groundworks-focused (approx. 75%), with exposure to RC frame packages (approx. 25%). Projects typically range from £1m to £3m, with current larger schemes up to £9m, providing excellent experience and progression opportunities. This position is ideal for a developing Quantity Surveyor looking to gain hands-on subcontractor experience while working closely with senior commercial and site teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the commercial management of groundworks and RC frame projects
  • Supporting the preparation and submission of monthly valuations
  • Assisting with cost reporting, forecasting, and cash flow tracking
  • Measurement and valuation of works on site
  • Assisting with the management of variations and change control
  • Subcontractor procurement support, including enquiries and comparisons
  • Helping prepare and agree final accounts
  • Liaising with site teams to capture progress and commercial information
  • Supporting senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers as required

Requirements

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related construction discipline OR up to 3-4 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role
  • Experience (or placement year experience) within groundworks, RC frame, or civil engineering preferred
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Good understanding of basic commercial and contractual principles
  • Confident communicator with a willingness to learn
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and standard commercial software
  • UK driving licence preferred
