Hours:

32.5 hours per week and 39 weeks per year ( Term Time of 38 weeks, plus one extra week including INSET days)

Contract Type:

Permanent

Working Pattern:

Monday 08:30-16:15, Tuesday & Wednesday 08:30-15:30, Thursday 08:30-15:15 and Friday 08:30-15:00.

About the Role

We are looking for a caring, experienced and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to work alongside the class teacher to support learning in class and run interventions, to join our team and be a proactive integrated member of the School Staff Team.

As part of your role you will, under the direction of a teacher, support in the learning process and utilise your skills to assist the teacher to create an educational environment in which a pupil's all-round development is achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • In the absence of a teacher, to supervise a class of students, ensuring they areengaged in learning activity that has been set by a teacher. This may includeexplaining the work to be completed and answering questions from pupils to ensurethat they understand what is required of them.
  • To liaise with teachers / other relevant staff with regard to work set for a class.
  • To feedback to the relevant teacher on pupil engagement in the set work and also onany issues that may have arisen during the covered lesson(s).
  • To help prepare, monitor and maintain a safe and secure learning environment in linewith the teacher's lesson plans.
  • To support the maintenance of an activity bank, and draw upon this in the event thatpupils complete the pre-set work more quickly than expected, in order to ensure thatpupils are engaged in constructive activity throughout the period of cover.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications:

  • NVQ 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning,or equivalent,OR Able to demonstrate the ability to meet theSTL Level 3 National OccupationalStandards relevant to this post.
  • Level 2 qualifications in maths/numeracyand English/literacyOR Able to demonstrate competency inliteracy and numeracy equivalent to level 2.

Experience:

  • Experience of working with students in aformal setting

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of child protection and healthand safety procedures.
  • Ability and willingness to undertakeprofessional development.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage pupilbehaviour in accordance with school policyand procedure.
