We are excited to recruit a highly self‑motivated Paediatric Nurse to join our experienced team as a Clinical Educator. In this role you will provide high‑quality support to children with complex needs, delivering training and competency support for community‑based nursing support packages for children and young people with complex and long‑term conditions/needs, including acquired/traumatic brain injury, neurological conditions, spinal injury, palliative care, tracheostomy, ventilation support, PEG support and catheter care.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate a high‑quality learning environment and ensure key‑fort support teams deliver safe, effective, caring and responsive care.
- Work closely with management, support workers and external professionals to maintain a standard of education.
- Deliver training and competency support for community‑based nursing packages for children with complex conditions.
- Provide supervision and observe support staff to ensure agreed support plans are achieved.
- Safeguard people and promote a progressive learning environment for all key‑fort services.
- Assist in the initial assessment process of new referrals and the development of professional support relationships.
- Carry out risk assessments and support planning.
- Maintain own professional registration and re‑validation; identify opportunities meeting clinical needs.
- Use Microsoft Office 365 and key‑fort online software to create reports and manage training records.
- Perform administrative tasks including minutes, incident reports, timesheets and annual leave forms.
- Act professionally at all times, uphold key‑fort values, and support nursing delivery in emergencies.
Qualifications
- Qualified Paediatric Nurse with a current and valid NMC pin.
- Proven evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to nursing and areas of specialty.
- Experience working with children and young people with ventilators, tracheostomies, PEGs and catheters is desirable.
- Teaching or mentoring qualifications are desirable.
Experience
- Experience of working with long‑term conditions in a community setting.
- Clear knowledge of NICE guidelines, CQC outcomes and standards.
- Proven experience of training and supervising healthcare assistants/support workers.
- Experience working as part of a team and autonomously.
- Experience with children and young people with complex respiratory needs.
- Experience of developing, implementing and reviewing care plans and risk assessments.
- Knowledge of teaching methodologies and training a multidisciplinary team.
Person Specification
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing or related field.
- Current and active NMC registration.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- IT proficiency and competence using software for training and competency monitoring.
- Active UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Flexible hours – 8‑12 hours per week, with at least one day per week working from our head office in Gateshead.
- Commitment to an enhanced DBS disclosure.
