Location: Manchester / Wythenshawe / North West
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Counsellor to support children and young people within a specialist education setting. The successful candidate will provide school-based counselling to learners with SEMH, trauma, anxiety, autism, school avoidance and complex emotional needs, helping improve wellbeing, emotional regulation and school engagement. This is an excellent opportunity for a therapist passionate about supporting young people in a SEND / alternative provision environment.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver 1:1 counselling and therapeutic support sessions to learners.
- Support children and young people with anxiety, trauma, bereavement, emotional regulation and school engagement.
- Maintain accurate clinical notes, safeguarding records and risk documentation.
- Work collaboratively with pastoral, safeguarding and inclusion teams.
- Contribute to wellbeing plans and appropriate referrals/signposting.
- Participate in clinical supervision and ongoing CPD.
- Maintain professional boundaries and ethical practice.
- Qualified Counsellor / Psychotherapist.
- Membership with BACP, UKCP, or equivalent preferred.
- Experience supporting children and young people (CYP).
- Experience in school, SEND, SEMH or trauma-informed settings highly desirable.
- Strong safeguarding awareness and understanding of confidentiality boundaries.
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain).
