We are currently recruiting for an experienced Document Controller to support a major projects team for a leading international engineering and construction contractor. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex, high-value design and build projects across sectors including Food, Pharmaceutical, Logistics, Data Centres and Advanced Manufacturing. The role is critical to ensuring documentation is controlled, compliant and accessible throughout the full project lifecycle.
The Role
Reporting to the Design Manager / Project Director, you will take ownership of the document control process across live projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance and efficiency at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate all document control activities, including technical documents, drawings and commercial correspondence
- Manage and maintain document control systems and platforms (including Aconex / ACC / Procore)
- Carry out quality assurance checks on submitted documentation in line with project and client standards
- Monitor drawing and technical submittal deadlines against project milestones
- Manage and track Requests for Information (RFIs)
- Control document creation, approval workflows and distribution processes
- Manage as-built documentation in collaboration with project and design teams
- Maintain strict version control across all documentation
- Organise document storage for efficient retrieval and audit purposes
- Maintain document security, access control and recovery procedures
- Produce document control reports for the project team
- Archive and dispose of documentation in line with retention policies
- Support the development and continuous improvement of document control systems
- Review and report on new document control tools and platforms
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience as a Document Controller within construction or engineering
- Hands-on experience using Aconex or similar document control systems
- Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Confident communicator, able to liaise with stakeholders at all levels
- Proactive team player with a structured and methodical approach
