We are currently recruiting for an experienced Scheme Delivery Manager to join a long-term highways maintenance and improvement contract in Suffolk. This is a key role within a busy construction delivery team, overseeing multiple schemes and ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. This position is ideal for a proactive construction professional with strong leadership skills and proven experience delivering highways or civil engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain construction programmes to ensure works are delivered safely, on time and within budget
- Coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractors efficiently
- Ensure Construction Phase Plans, method statements and safe systems of work are in place prior to works commencing
- Maintain high HSEQ standards across all schemes
- Liaise with key stakeholders including local authorities, designers, network managers and community representatives
- Ensure all site personnel are competent, trained and compliant
- Take responsibility for commercial performance in collaboration with commercial teams
- Maintain accurate site records including site diaries, resource allocation and as-built information
- Support programme development, phasing plans and construction methodologies
- Build and maintain strong relationships with supply chain partners
- Support Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), buildability reviews and traffic management integration
- Participate in value engineering and value management activities
- Work in line with internal quality, safety and environmental procedures
Requirements
Qualifications
- SMSTS or IOSH
- CSCS
- Full UK Driving Licence
- HNC or Degree in a construction-related discipline (desirable)
Experience & Skills
- Proven experience delivering highways or civil engineering schemes
- Strong understanding of health and safety management
- Ability to manage costs and control budgets effectively
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Collaborative team player with a proactive mindset
- Innovative approach with the ability to identify improved methods of working
