Key Talent Solutions is supporting a welcoming and inclusive primary school seeking a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their team. This role involves working with pupils who have a variety of learning, behavioural, emotional, and developmental needs, and is ideal for someone passionate about making a positive difference in children’s education.

This is an agency position, with the successful candidate placed directly into one of our partner primary schools.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside class teachers to ensure pupils can access learning, develop independence, and achieve their individual goals. You will support pupils on a 1:1 basis and within small groups, helping to provide a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pupil Support
  • Provide tailored support based on individual needs and Education Plans.
  • Assist pupils with physical, emotional, behavioural or medical requirements.
  • Help pupils access the curriculum and work towards agreed learning targets.
  • Promote independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
  • Support children during break times and structured play.
  • Participate in first aid or Health & Safety duties (training provided).
  • Escort pupils to activities or off-site visits when required.
  • Classroom Support
    • Prepare learning materials, resources and classroom equipment.
    • Support differentiated learning and language development.
    • Supervise individuals or small groups under teacher direction.
    • Provide feedback to teachers on pupil progress and behaviour.
    • Implement behaviour strategies and report concerns promptly.
  • School Support
    • Attend relevant briefings or team meetings.
    • Contribute to reports, records and reviews where required.
    • Maintain positive relationships with parents and carers.
    • Uphold safeguarding, confidentiality and inclusion at all times.

    What We’re Looking For

    • Experience supporting children in a school or similar setting.
    • Understanding of safeguarding and behaviour support.
    • Ability to work calmly, patiently and positively with pupils.
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
    • Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or willingness to work towards it).
    • Experience supporting children with SEND (SEMH, Autism, physical needs etc.).
    • Experience with behaviour management strategies.
