One of our local community primary schools in the BB3 Darwen area is looking to recruit a proactive and supportive Primary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming team. This role is to support on a 1:1 basis in a Year 1/2 class within ASD and ADHD support needs, with the pupil working to the KS1 curriculum. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday 8:30am to 3:15pm. The school has a strong focus on inclusive learning and pupil development, with a supportive staff team and a positive learning environment, making it an excellent opportunity for a Primary Teaching Assistant looking to develop their experience in a school setting.

Primary Teaching Assistant role requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people (school-based desirable)
  • Experience supporting pupils within a primary school setting
  • Understanding of the primary curriculum within KS1 and adapting as required for the pupils' learning needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, proactive and supportive approach
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply

The successful Primary Teaching Assistant will:

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and have an understanding and experience of supporting pupils who have ASD and ADHD needs
  • Assist the teacher with lesson delivery and classroom activities
  • Encourage pupil engagement and participation
  • Support behaviour management using positive strategies
  • Help create an inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams
