This is a great opportunity for experienced or aspiring Learning Mentors to work in a vibrant East London secondary school. The post would suit a graduate looking to gain experience in schools with a view to becoming an educational psychologist, counsellor, social worker, or secondary school teacher in the future. It will also suit an experienced teaching assistant or learning mentor who excels at providing pastoral support to vulnerable young people.
The successful Learning Mentor will work in the specialist Pastoral team, providing emotional support to 11-16 year olds who are struggling in the mainstream environment. Students may attend the unit for various reasons, including self-harm, bereavement, emotional problems, or disruptive behaviour in class.
Applicants should be empathetic individuals with previous experience working with vulnerable 11-16 year olds, whether in a school or similar environment. You should be confident and able to manage a case load, conducting 1:1 interventions, assessments, and action plans.
