The Estimating Manager will lead and manage the Estimating / Planning Department, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of cost estimates for large-format print and signage projects. This role involves collaborating with sales, operations, and project management teams to align on pricing, timelines, and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop the Estimating and Sales team
  • Oversee cost estimates for materials, labour, equipment, and timelines
  • Liaise with clients to gather project requirements and issue quotes
  • Negotiate and communicate with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Identify cost or project risks; provide mitigation strategies
  • Ensure professional, timely proposal submission
  • Ensure smooth transition of projects to delivery teams
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety during estimation/tendering

Requirements

  • At least 5 years' experience working within an Estimating role
  • At least 2 years' experience within printing/manufacturing field
  • At least 2 years' experience managing teams
  • Proven track record in tenders for projects up to £5 million
  • High financial and commercial acumen, with a deep understanding of cost planning, profitability margins, and budget forecasting
  • Strong leadership and motivation skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office knowledge, especially Excel and Word
  • Clear and confident communication
  • Strategic thinker with commercial awareness
  • Organised, detailed, calm under pressure
  • Familiarity with drawings/specifications
