The Company: Adhesives Manufacturer
The Role:
- Project Delivery: To evaluate project ideas, qualifying them and conducting initial feasibility studies before recommending pursuing them.
- To lead Product Improvement, Product Change, Raw Material Evaluation, New Product Development and New Factored Product projects in line with the defined processes, ensuring that the production proving process is followed, assumptions are validated, and risks assessed and mitigated.
- To ensure that newly introduced products, raw materials, and processes secure OEE performance and meet financial targets.
- To visit customers, end users and suppliers as necessary to maximise the success of projects.
- To regularly update the business on project progress.
- Product Design: To stay abreast of technological advances as well as legislative change in adhesives and tape manufacture and make recommendations for changes to products based on market developments and compliance obligations.
- To ensure that product design takes plant capability and production efficiency into account.
- To ensure that product design considers the wider raw materials aspects such as access to dual sources, storage, MOQs, costs, REACH, COSHH, etc.
- To ensure that product design meets the market environmental trends.
- Product Range: To stay abreast of competitor, end user and market trends in order to identify gaps in the company’s range and make recommendations for new products, both manufactured and factored.
- To measure and report on the carbon footprint of the product range.
- To work closely with Marketing to develop communication tools and documentation which will support their own commercial staff and customers to grow sales of company products.
- To work with Marketing to co-ordinate the launch of new products and/or changes to existing products.
- To seek ways that company products can be specified into projects, standards and contracts in order to secure long term sales.
- To prepare and deliver product training presentations aimed at both company staff and customer sales staff ensuring key features, technologies and benefits are communicated and understood.
- To support company commercial staff in responding to product queries, complaints and technical questions.
- Performance Monitoring: To update and report on KPIs and projects as agreed and to act when performance is lower than required.
- Data Management: To maintain all static data in an up to date and accessible form.
- To ensure that there are documented processes for the key activities - Product Improvement, Product Change, Raw Material Evaluation, New Product Development and New Factored Product introduction, and that they are saved in the Business Management System in the correct format.
- To maintain departmental group drives in a structured and accessible format in line with guidance from IT and within agreed memory capacity limits.
Requirements:
- BSc Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science or related field.
- Excellent knowledge of pressure sensitive adhesive and adhesive tape technology, including manufacturing process and adhesive formulation.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, including ability to influence key stakeholders and team members.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience leading cross functional project teams.
- Experience bringing new products to market.
- Excellent communication with customers and raw materials suppliers.
- Excellent understanding of customer quality requirements.
- Excellent understanding of production methods, products, and project management.
- Excellent understanding of Design of Experiments, statistics, and risk management techniques and ability to use them in project delivery.
- Ability to find solutions to project challenges.
- Good understanding of target customers and target markets.
- Excellent understanding of products range, applications, features and benefits.
- Ability to identify and communicate risk (Service, Quality, Health & Safety and Financial).
- Ability to translate technical features into commercial benefits.
- Excellent organisational skills.
