Production Engineer

Main Functions of the Job

The Production Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimising manufacturing processes within an electronics production environment. The role ensures that production activities are efficient, repeatable, and aligned with quality standards. A key focus is placed on process documentation, standardisation, and continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing methodologies. The engineer will also support the introduction of new products and process changes, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and improve manufacturing processes and develop and optimise manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure product quality.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation including process flows, standard operating procedures, work instructions, and control plans.
  • Conduct time and motion studies and implement changes to streamline workflow and reduce non-value-added activities.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing tools such as 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, and root cause analysis (RCA) to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluate existing production lines and propose enhancements in layout, tooling, and automation to improve throughput and ergonomics.
  • Collaborate with design, quality, and production teams during New Product Introduction (NPI) to ensure smooth process handover and manufacturability.
  • Support and lead process validation activities including PFMEA, capability studies, and first article inspections. xgikmsk
