Job Purpose

To represent the company on customers premises to perform installations, servicing, fault finding, repairs and commissioning on refrigeration & air conditioning plant and equipment. To offer advice across all company aspects of Refrigeration Engineering to departmental managers and junior members of staff, ensuring quality standards are maintained & adhered to. To be responsible for the efficient, safe and timely manufacture of refrigeration plants and compressors to drawings and specifications. The RCE is to be the lead on jobs in the absence of the Senior Commissioning Engineer. This position reports directly to the Production Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • This is a customer facing role
  • Commission refrigeration systems at customer sites to ensure full functionality and compliance with design specifications
  • Provide technical support and guidance during the installation and commissioning phases at customer sites
  • Respond to call outs as directed by the PM to provide repairs/servicing/installation & commissioning of customer refrigeration equipment both UK and worldwide
  • Participate in the handover process of equipment to clients, including conducting basic training on system operations
  • Produce reports of completed works/call outs/training elements
  • Carry out build programmes of refrigeration plants and compressors at theFareham facility
  • Assist PM with producing project technical documentation, as required
  • Assist PM with Quality inspection of incoming parts from Goods In for refrigerant plant and compressor builds to ensure correct parts and quantity received, part number/description and are to the correct quality standard
  • Inspection, testing, and quality inspection of refrigeration Goods Out
  • Advise of any quality procedure changes, if required
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards regulations
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment for the D2 workshop and customers sites
  • Deputise for the Senior Commissioning Engineer (SCE), as required
  • Work closely with Project Managers, contractors, and clients to ensure successful project completion
  • Carry out any other duties deemed relevant by the PM

Qualifications

Education

  • Formal refrigeration apprenticeship or equivalent refrigeration experience
  • Proven experience as a refrigeration commissioning engineer on refrigeration systems in commercial and industrial environments
  • Relevant qualifications in refrigeration, including FGAS CAT 1

Skills

  • Good interpersonal communication and organisational skills
  • Proven track record of the ability to manage time and work to strict deadlines
  • At least 10 years refrigeration experience
  • To have some knowledge and experience with the electrical power provision and controls of Refrigeration & AC equipment
