We’re looking for a Pick and Place Operative for an exciting new role with an electronics manufacturer in Waterlooville. This position combines hands-on PCB assembly with responsibility for operating and maintaining SMT Pick & Place machinery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electronics assembly, a keen eye for detail, and proven experience running Pick & Place machines in a production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operating and maintaining SMT Pick & Place machines
- Programming Pick & Place machines and reflow ovens
- Operating screen printers and using profiling tools (e.g. Moles)
- PCBA assembly including SMT and PTH soldering
- Cable and electromechanical assembly using crimp tools
- PCBA rework and diagnostics
- Interpreting customer BOMs and technical drawings to ensure manufacturing standards are met
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience with SMT Pick & Place machines (Juki or similar)
- Off-line programming experience preferred
- Excellent component recognition and soldering ability
- Comfortable working with fine-pitch components under a microscope
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Ability to manage a busy workload and meet deadlines under pressure
Hours: Monday to Thursday: 7:30 am – 3:45 pm, Friday: 7:30 am – 2:30 pm (40 hours per week)
Pay: Up to £15 per hour for the right skills and experience.
