My client is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to carry out maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and commissioning of heavy machinery at customer sites across the UK. This role is ideal for a technically skilled engineer who enjoys working independently while delivering a high level of customer service. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting customers with effective technical solutions in the field. This is a front‑line brand ambassador role with direct responsibility for customer satisfaction, cost control, and revenue protection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service & Maintenance
    • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic faults
    • Carry out servicing, inspections, warranty repairs, and machine commissioning
    • Complete major component replacements and software diagnostics
  • Customer Support
    • Act as the main technical contact on customer sites
    • Provide professional updates and operational guidance to customers
    • Escalate recurring issues and identify additional service opportunities
  • Administration & Compliance
    • Complete digital job reports, timesheets, and warranty documentation
    • Record labour, parts usage, and maintain van stock accuracy
    • Follow HSE procedures and complete site risk assessments

Skills & Experience

  • Essential
    • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Plant, Mechanical, Agricultural, or Heavy Vehicle Engineering
    • Experience working on construction plant or heavy equipment
    • Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills
    • Full UK driving licence
    • Ability to work independently in field‑based environments
  • Desirable
    • Manufacturer training or technical accreditation
    • Knowledge of LOLER and PUWER regulations
    • IPAF, PASMA, or electrical system experience
