Import/Export Administrator Exeter Β£18,000 – Β£29,000 per annum Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and organised Import/Export Administrator to join an established international logistics operation.

Working across the import and export function, you will be responsible for coordinating shipments from start to finish, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately and that shipments comply with current customs and international trade requirements.

The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with both internal teams and external suppliers and logistics partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the full import and export process, ensuring shipments are handled efficiently and in line with customs and international trade regulations.
  • Liaise with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs agents and other external partners to ensure shipments are arranged and delivered within the required timescales.
  • Prepare, check and maintain accurate shipping documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists and certificates of origin.
  • Monitor stock and inventory requirements and coordinate logistics activity to support the timely movement and delivery of goods.
  • Assist with identifying ways to reduce freight and shipping costs while improving overall supply chain efficiency.
  • Keep comprehensive and accurate records of import and export activity to ensure information is available for auditing and compliance purposes.
  • Keep up to date with changes to customs requirements, tariffs and international trade regulations that could impact the business.
  • Work closely with departments including Sales, Finance and Legal to ensure import/export activities support wider business requirements.

About You

The ideal candidate will have

  • Previous experience within import/export, international logistics or a related environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of customs procedures and international trade compliance.
  • Excellent organisational and administration skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Experience using logistics or freight-related systems, together with good Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly when reviewing freight costs and logistics performance.
  • Confident communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with suppliers, customers, freight partners and regulatory bodies.
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a busy team environment.
  • A qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration or a related discipline would be beneficial, although this is not essential.
