Key Responsibilities
- Providing supervision, care, and advice to women during pregnancy, labour, and the postpartum period.
- Providing full antenatal care, including screening tests in the hospital, community, and the home.
- Providing counseling and advice before and after screening and tests.
- Conducting deliveries on her own and caring for the newborn infant.
- Performing annual gynecological exams, including ultrasounds, pap smears and examinations of breasts.
- Providing preconception and prenatal care.
- Offering education and information about breastfeeding, pregnancy health, nutrition, exercise, fertility and infant care.
