The successful candidate will cover North England and the Midlands, and will be expected to travel. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Gas Engineer to join our team, supporting our work to engineer, build and maintain critical facilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and repairing gas systems across a variety of settings, ensuring full compliance with safety standards and regulations that underpin essential infrastructure.
The role is ideal for individuals with a strong mechanical background, hands-on plumbing experience, and proficiency in using hand and power tools. The position involves physically demanding work and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety.
Responsibilities:- Support sites in delivering building services, Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
- Deliver scheduled, reactive, and remedial maintenance services via the PPM schedule or as requested by the Help Desk or Service Managers
- Maintain, service, fault find, and test commercial gas and heating systems
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment to carry out maintenance tasks
- Provide technical guidance on processes, procedures, statutory regulations, approved codes of practice, and HTMs
- Work with and support the projects/construction team and technical services supervisor in identifying, scoping, and delivering minor capital works
- Maintain detailed records of work completed in accordance with regulatory standards
- Assist with system testing to ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Valid driving licence and willingness to travel
- Current, in-date domestic and commercial gas certification (essential)
- Current Gas Safe Registration
- Commercial gas modules such as CIGA1, CDGA1, TPCP1A
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing & Heating
- Previous experience working within a building maintenance environment
- Experience delivering maintenance services to a specification such as SFG20
- Proven experience working as a Gas Engineer or in a similar role within the mechanical or plumbing sectors
- Demonstrable knowledge of gas systems, safety standards, and relevant legislation
