About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and confident Registered Manager to lead a children’s residential home supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) and associated complex needs. You will hold full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring it operates in full compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, the Quality Standards, and Ofsted expectations, while delivering safe, consistent, and high-quality care. This role is suited to a Registered Manager who is inspection-ready, values strong leadership, and is committed to achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the Ofsted Registered Manager for the home
  • Provide strong, visible leadership to staff and young people
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations and guidance, including: Leadership & Management Standard; Protection of Children Standard; Care Planning & Outcomes Standard
  • Maintain inspection readiness and lead on Ofsted visits
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people
  • Lead, supervise, and develop the staff team through robust supervision and appraisal
  • Oversee rotas, staffing levels, and safer recruitment practices
  • Manage incidents, safeguarding concerns, and behaviour support strategies
  • Maintain accurate records, audits, and quality assurance systems
  • Work collaboratively with placing authorities, professionals, and families
  • Drive continuous improvement and positive Ofsted outcomes

About You

  • Proven experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager in a children’s residential setting (EBD / SEMH / LAC)
  • Strong working knowledge of:
  • Children’s Homes Regulations 2015
  • Ofsted Quality Standards
  • Safeguarding, risk management, and behaviour support
  • Confident managing inspections and regulatory processes
  • Resilient, organised, and child-focused leadership style
  • Able to create a positive culture of accountability, stability, and care

Essential:

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Experience managing or supporting an Ofsted inspection

Desirable:

  • Achieved or maintained a Good or Outstanding Ofsted rating
  • Experience managing EBD services
  • Team Teach, MAPA, or equivalent training
  • Full UK driving licence
