About the Role

We are recruiting an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager to support the leadership of a children’s residential home providing care for young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) and associated complex needs. Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the home operates in line with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, the Quality Standards, and Ofsted expectations, while delivering high-quality, child-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home
  • Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of Support Workers
  • Ensure practice aligns with the Quality Standards, including:
  • Leadership and Management
  • Protection of Children
  • Care Planning and Outcomes
  • Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (as required)
  • Oversee rotas, staffing levels, and shift cover
  • Support incident management, behaviour support plans, and de-escalation
  • Maintain accurate records, audits, and compliance documentation
  • Contribute to inspection readiness and support Ofsted visits
  • Step up to manage the home in the absence of the Registered Manager
  • About You

    • Experience working in a children’s residential setting (EBD / SEMH / LAC)
    • Proven experience in a Senior Support Worker or Deputy Manager role
    • Strong understanding of:
    • Children’s Homes Regulations 2015
    • Ofsted Quality Standards
    • Safeguarding, risk management, and behaviour support
  • Confident leading shifts and supporting staff performance
  • Resilient, organised, and child-focused leadership style
  • Essential:

    • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
    • Willingness to work towards Level 5 (if not already held)

    Desirable:

    • Experience supporting inspections
    • Team Teach, MAPA, or equivalent training
    • Full UK driving licence
