Social, Emotional & Behavioural Support Practitioner (SEN)
Location: Surrey
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week, Term Time Only
Working Pattern: 08:15 start daily
Finish times: Mon-Wed 16:45 | Thu 17:00 | Fri 16:00
Salary: £30,000 – £32,500 per annum (depending on qualifications)
About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established, values-led specialist education provider with an outstanding reputation for staff support, development and wellbeing. As a Social, Emotional & Behavioural Support Practitioner (SEN), you will play a vital role in helping young people aged 11-16 with Autism and associated needs to thrive socially, emotionally and academically within a nurturing, well-resourced setting. You will work closely with a highly supportive pastoral and SEND team to deliver structured interventions that promote emotional regulation, positive behaviour and full access to learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1, small group and class-based emotional and behavioural support sessions
- Support emotional regulation, behaviour management and engagement with learning
- Assist with assessments and maintain accurate progress data
- Build strong, positive relationships with pupils and families
- Provide play- and arts-based therapeutic learning experiences
- Promote inclusive practice across the school
- Support staff working with pupils\’ emotional and behavioural needs
- Contribute to Annual Reviews and pastoral planning
- Support training and embedding of emotional wellbeing strategies
Essential Requirements
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above)
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Knowledge of social, emotional and behavioural development
- Experience managing challenging behaviour
- Ability to work flexibly as part of a multidisciplinary team
Desirable
- Practitioner-level training in therapeutic or behavioural support (or willingness to train)
- Team Teach or similar behaviour support training
- Experience running nurture or social skills groups
- Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SLD or PMLD
