We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established residential children’s home in Derby, supporting young people with additional needs to thrive in a nurturing, supportive environment.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about care work and wants to be part of a dedicated team making a genuine impact.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide compassionate day-to-day care and support to children with learning disabilities
- Assist with personal care tasks including hygiene, dressing, and feeding
- Encourage participation in educational and recreational activities both at home and in the community
- Support the emotional development of children through positive relationships and consistent care
- Help implement and follow individual care plans
- Collaborate with colleagues, families, and external professionals to ensure holistic support
- Monitor and record behaviours, progress, and care needs
- Maintain a safe and nurturing environment at all times
- Manage challenging behaviours using positive behaviour support techniques
- Take part in ongoing training and team development sessions
- Experience working with children, ideally with learning disabilities or additional needs (preferred but not essential)
- Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) is an advantage
- Empathetic, calm, and patient approach
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and sleep-in duties
- Full UK driving licence (essential) – must include business insurance
- Competitive salary up to £26,150
