About the Role
We are recruiting a Floating Support Worker to provide person-centred support to adults with learning disabilities and/or mental health needs living in their own homes and within the local community across Middlesbrough. Support focuses on promoting independence, emotional wellbeing, confidence and social inclusion. You will work with individuals to maintain their tenancy, develop daily living skills, and access meaningful community activities. This is a mobile role covering a radius of approximately 5 miles, supporting over 30 service users as part of an expanding service.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred support in clients’ homes and in the community
- Support with domestic tasks, home maintenance, shopping, and cooking
- Offer emotional support and promote positive mental health
- Assist with budgeting, financial management and paying household bills
- Encourage involvement in education, leisure, social and community activities
- Enable development of daily living skills and personal independence
- Work collaboratively with families, carers and professionals to ensure continuity of support
- Respond flexibly to changing needs and maintain accurate support records
- Support people with behaviours that challenge using appropriate strategies
- Promote dignity, choice, respect and safeguarding at all times

- Warm, positive and person-centred
- Able to build trusting, supportive relationships
- Confident supporting people with learning disabilities and mental health needs
- Skilled in communication and able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Resilient, patient and adaptable when supporting individuals with complex needs
- Able to support with mobility needs where required
