We are recruiting an experienced Children’s Home Registered Manager to open and lead a new children’s home in Gloucester. This is an opportunity to shape a new residential service for young people who have experienced adversity, creating a safe, nurturing, and structured home environment where they can grow, stabilise, and thrive.
The Role
- Lead the opening and day-to-day running of a new children’s home
- Manage, motivate, and support a stable residential care team
- Ensure high standards of safeguarding, care, and quality assurance
- Create a warm, structured, and child-centred home environment
- Advocate strongly for young people and ensure their voices are heard
- Maintain compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
- Prepare the service for registration, inspection, and ongoing regulatory scrutiny
- Drive continuous improvement across care practice, outcomes, and team performance
- Work collaboratively with professionals, families, and wider support networks
About You
- Experience managing or deputising within a children’s residential setting
- A strong track record of working with vulnerable children and young people
- Comprehensive understanding of the regulatory framework for children’s homes
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and a clear focus on quality
- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
- A hands-on, practical, and positive approach
- The ability to build a motivated team and create a stable home environment
- Strong attention to detail and confidence leading through challenge
You will need:
- QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or equivalent
- Or willingness to begin the qualification within the required timeframe
- Eligibility to register with Ofsted as Registered Manager
