We are recruiting on behalf of Harrogate Neighbours for an experienced HR Officer to lead and develop their HR function. This is an excellent opportunity for a HR professional who enjoys working across the full employee lifecycle and wants the autonomy to make a genuine impact within a values-led organisation.

This is a standalone HR role, offering a broad and varied workload across recruitment, employee relations, learning and development, performance management, policy development, compliance, and workforce planning. You'll work closely with senior leaders, providing practical HR advice while helping to shape and improve people processes across the organisation.

The Role

As HR Officer, you will provide a high-quality HR advisory service to managers across the organisation. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing end-to-end recruitment and onboarding processes
  • Supporting managers with employee relations matters including performance, attendance, disciplinary and grievance processes
  • Advising on HR policies, procedures and employment legislation
  • Coordinating induction, probation and appraisal processes
  • Maintaining accurate HR records and ensuring GDPR compliance
  • Producing HR reports and supporting senior management with workforce planning
  • Managing relationships with external recruitment partners and employment law advisers
  • Supporting staff engagement initiatives, benefits administration and employee recognition programmes
  • Overseeing HR compliance, safeguarding requirements and right-to-work checks
  • Line management of a part-time HR Administrator

About You

We are looking for an organised and proactive HR professional who can balance strategic thinking with a hands-on approach. You will have:

  • Practical HR experience across a broad range of HR functions
  • Experience managing employee relations cases
  • Knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience providing clear and practical HR advice to managers
  • Good Microsoft Office skills, including document and spreadsheet management
  • A CIPD Level 3 qualification or above
  • Experience within a care, housing, charity or regulated environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
