Are you an experienced maintenance professional with strong electrical skills looking for a varied role where your work genuinely makes a difference?
Barnsley Healthcare Federation is looking for a General Maintenance Operative (Electrical Bias) to help maintain and improve a diverse estate of healthcare facilities across Barnsley. You'll play an important role in ensuring buildings remain safe, compliant and well maintained, helping create environments where patients and healthcare professionals can thrive. The role focuses primarily on electrical maintenance while also supporting wider building maintenance across multiple sites.
What you'll be doing:
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance with a focus on electrical systems
- Installing, inspecting, testing and repairing electrical systems, lighting and controls
- Supporting general building maintenance including basic plumbing, joinery, decorating and fabric repairs
- Responding promptly to maintenance requests across Federation sites
- Completing routine compliance checks including emergency lighting, fire systems and PAT testing
- Maintaining accurate maintenance and compliance records
- Working alongside contractors and colleagues to deliver a high standard of service
- Identifying opportunities to improve buildings and support energy efficiency initiatives
What we're looking for:
- A recognised electrical qualification, such as City & Guilds Level 2 (2365) or equivalent
- Hands-on experience in electrical maintenance
- Experience carrying out general building maintenance
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and safe working practices
- Strong fault-finding and repair skills
- Excellent organisation and record-keeping abilities
- A proactive, flexible approach and the ability to work independently
- Good communication skills and experience working collaboratively with others
Hours and location:
- 37.5 hours per week
- Monday to Friday
- Based at Priory Campus
- Expected to travel to other Barnsley Healthcare Federation sites
