At Mason Clark Associates, that's exactly what you'll find. As one of the North's most respected multi-disciplinary consultancies, MCA has built a reputation on technical excellence, integrity, and long-standing client relationships. Their culture is built around supporting professionals to thrive, not just deliver.

For experienced surveyors frustrated by being treated as just another fee earner, this is an opportunity to join a consultancy where your expertise, judgement, and professional development genuinely matter.

The Role

This is a varied and influential Senior Building Surveyor role where you'll manage projects from inception through to completion, acting as a trusted advisor to clients while mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to the wider success of the business. Projects are diverse, technically interesting, and collaborative by nature. You'll have the autonomy to manage your own workload while still benefiting from the support of approachable senior leadership and cross-office teamwork.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering refurbishment, repair, and building surveying projects from inception to completion
  • Carrying out building surveys, condition reports, inspections, and building pathology assessments
  • Advising clients on defects, remedial works, compliance, and maintenance strategies
  • Preparing specifications, tender documentation, and contract administration under industry standard forms
  • Managing client relationships and attending project meetings
  • Supporting and mentoring junior surveyors within the team
  • Contributing to technical excellence and continuous improvement across projects and processes

What's on Offer

Mason Clark Associates understands that sustainable excellence starts with investing in people. You'll benefit from:

  • Competitive salary package
  • Car allowance and performance-related bonus
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
  • Healthcare provision
  • Generous holiday entitlement and pension contributions
  • Support for Chartership, CPD, and ongoing professional development
  • Early responsibility with senior support and clear progression opportunities
  • A supportive and collaborative working culture where individuals can make a real difference

The Person

We're looking to speak with experienced Building Surveyors who combine strong technical capability with a collaborative and proactive approach. You'll ideally have:

  • Degree qualification in Building Surveying or a related discipline
  • MRICS qualification, or be working towards Chartership
  • Consultancy or client-side Building Surveying experience
  • Strong understanding of building pathology, refurbishment, and contract administration
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills
  • The ability to manage projects independently while building strong client relationships
  • A genuine interest in supporting and developing junior colleagues

For the right person, this role offers far more than a job title. It's an opportunity to join a consultancy where your contribution is recognised, your development is supported, and your career can continue to grow without sacrificing quality, culture, or balance.
