We are looking for a highly organised and detail-focused Junior Buyer on behalf of a leading chemicals distributor based in Leeds. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys building strong supplier relationships, working accurately in a fast-paced environment, and supporting a busy purchasing team.
What you'll be doing
- Supporting the purchasing function by sourcing materials at the best price, managing stock levels, and ensuring the smooth flow of goods through the supply chain.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.
- Negotiating pricing and delivery terms.
- Managing stock levels in line with business requirements.
- Raising purchase orders with approved suppliers.
- Providing accurate pricing to UK and Export Sales Teams.
- Completing daily Out of Stock reports.
- Booking collections and liaising with shipping and suppliers for documentation.
- Proactively managing slow-moving stock and quarantined materials.
- Working with Business Managers on assigned product portfolios.
- Providing cover for the Purchasing Administrator and other Buyers as required.
About you
We are looking for someone who brings the following:
- Must have: Strong computer literacy, including Word and Excel; Excellent communication skills; Ability to work under pressure; Customer service experience.
- Nice to have: Dynamics 365 experience; Negotiation skills; Purchasing or supply chain experience; Chemical industry knowledge; Supplier development experience; CIPS qualification; A chemistry or science-related degree.
