We are looking for an experienced Production Manager on behalf of our client, a well-established manufacturing business based in Consett, County Durham. This would suit a hands-on Production Manager who enjoys leading people, improving processes, and driving high standards across production, quality, and health and safety.
As Production Manager, you will report directly to the Site Manager and take responsibility for the day-to-day operations of a small manufacturing facility, leading a team of around 20 people and ensuring efficient production, consistent quality, and a strong safety culture.
THE ROLE - Production Manager responsibilities- Lead, motivate, and manage a production team of approximately 20 staff
- Provide coaching, training, and ongoing performance feedback
- Plan, organise, and oversee daily production activities to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets
- Apply lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve productivity
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, carrying out audits and risk assessments
- Promote and embed a strong health and safety culture across the site
- Maintain high product quality standards and support ISO 9001:2015 compliance
- 3 to 5 years' experience in a manufacturing production role with strong leadership capability
- Proven experience implementing and maintaining health and safety standards
- Experience carrying out risk assessments, safety audits, and staff training
- Strong performance management, coaching, and conflict resolution skills
- Good IT skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workloads, and manage multiple tasks
- Internal Quality Auditor training
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015
- NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent
- Level 3 Certificate in Leadership and Management or equivalent
- Experience using lean manufacturing techniques to deliver measurable improvements
