This is a key leadership role within the business, responsible for managing a team of field-based forklift engineers while ensuring exceptional customer service, strong operational performance and profitable aftersales delivery.
The Role
- Take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the field engineering team, ensuring breakdowns, servicing, inspections and repairs are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Manage and support a team of field service engineers.
- Plan engineer workloads and regional coverage.
- Monitor engineer productivity, utilisation and response times.
- Support engineers with technical fault diagnosis and escalations.
- Manage customer relationships and resolve service-related issues.
- Ensure LOLER, health & safety and manufacturer compliance standards are maintained.
- Conduct engineer reviews, coaching and recruitment.
- Work closely with service administration and parts departments.
- Drive aftersales performance, labour recovery and service profitability.
- Carry out customer site visits across warehousing, logistics and industrial accounts.
The Candidate
- Proven experience within forklift trucks, materials handling or related capital equipment sectors.
- Strong background managing mobile engineers or service operations.
- Technical understanding of forklift trucks and associated equipment.
- Commercially aware with strong organisational skills.
- Calm under pressure and capable of managing a fast-paced operation.
- Strong customer-facing and leadership abilities.
- Experience managing KPIs, engineer performance and service delivery.
