A well-established and highly respected materials handling dealership is looking to recruit an experienced Field Service Manager to lead and develop its mobile engineering operation across the Midlands region. This is a key leadership role within the business, responsible for managing a team of field-based forklift engineers while ensuring exceptional customer service, strong operational performance and profitable aftersales delivery.

The Role

  • Take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the field engineering team, ensuring breakdowns, servicing, inspections and repairs are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Manage and support a team of field service engineers.
  • Plan engineer workloads and regional coverage.
  • Monitor engineer productivity, utilisation and response times.
  • Support engineers with technical fault diagnosis and escalations.
  • Manage customer relationships and resolve service-related issues.
  • Ensure LOLER, health & safety and manufacturer compliance standards are maintained.
  • Conduct engineer reviews, coaching and recruitment.
  • Work closely with service administration and parts departments.
  • Drive aftersales performance, labour recovery and service profitability.
  • Carry out customer site visits across warehousing, logistics and industrial accounts.

The Candidate

  • Proven experience within forklift trucks, materials handling or related capital equipment sectors.
  • Strong background managing mobile engineers or service operations.
  • Technical understanding of forklift trucks and associated equipment.
  • Commercially aware with strong organisational skills.
  • Calm under pressure and capable of managing a fast-paced operation.
  • Strong customer-facing and leadership abilities.
  • Experience managing KPIs, engineer performance and service delivery.
