A well-established and growing equipment rental business is looking to recruit an organised and customer-focused Hire Desk Controller / Logistics Planner to join its busy depot operation in Hamilton. This is a pivotal role within the business, responsible for coordinating equipment hires, planning transport movements and ensuring customers receive a first-class service from enquiry through to off-hire.

The Role

Working from the depot, you will act as the central point of contact for customers, drivers and operational teams, ensuring equipment is delivered and collected efficiently while maximising fleet utilisation. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing incoming hire enquiries and processing bookings
  • Scheduling deliveries and collections across the region
  • Planning driver routes and coordinating transport logistics
  • Liaising with customers regarding availability, delivery times and off-hires
  • Producing hire documentation, contracts and associated paperwork
  • Monitoring equipment availability and fleet utilisation
  • Working closely with depot, workshop and transport teams
  • Resolving customer queries in a professional and timely manner
  • Maintaining accurate records on internal systems
  • Supporting the wider depot operation to ensure exceptional customer service

The Candidate

  • Equipment rental, plant hire, tool hire, powered access, welfare, accommodation or a similar industry
  • Hire desk, service coordination, transport planning or logistics administration roles
  • Managing multiple tasks within a fast-paced environment

  • Good IT literacy and experience using scheduling or hire management systems
