We are an ambitious and rapidly growing offshore welfare company based in Middlesbrough, providing essential welfare, logistics, and support services to offshore personnel across the UK and beyond.

As our operations continue to expand, we are looking for a highly capable Financial Controller to help drive financial performance, strengthen operational controls, and support strategic growth. If you enjoy ownership, accountability, and making a genuine impact within a dynamic business, we’d love to hear from you.

The Opportunity

In this pivotal position, you’ll take responsibility for both day-to-day financial management and project-based financial control across multiple operational activities. Working closely with the Managing Directors and operational teams, you’ll help ensure projects are delivered on budget, risks are identified early, and financial reporting supports confident business decisions. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys balancing detail with commercial awareness and wants to contribute to a growing business with real momentum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records, reconciliations, and general ledger management
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions
  • Prepare monthly management accounts with variance analysis and reporting insights
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow processes
  • Prepare VAT returns and support statutory compliance requirements
  • Liaise with external accountants and auditors
  • Ensure robust financial controls and compliance procedures are maintained
  • Monitor financial performance across multiple operational projects
  • Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking
  • Identify financial risks, variances, and improvement opportunities
  • Support project managers with commercial and financial insight
  • Ensure accurate cost allocation and revenue recognition
  • Assist with financial modelling and scenario planning for new projects

Operational Support

  • Help improve financial systems, reporting tools, and internal processes
  • Act as a key finance contact across the business
  • Maintain organised financial documentation and records
  • Support wider operational and administrative functions when required
  • Work closely with senior leadership to support business growth
  • Mentor junior finance or administrative team members where appropriate
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure commercial alignment

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who combines strong financial expertise with commercial awareness and a proactive mindset.

  • Proven experience in a senior bookkeeping, finance, or project accounting role
  • Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Experience within a project-driven or operational business environment
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks
  • Advanced Excel skills preferred
  • Strong organisational and analytical abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar finance role

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a growing offshore services business with exciting long-term ambitions
  • Work closely with decision-makers and directly influence business performance
  • Enjoy a varied, commercially involved role with real responsibility
