Our client is an established and highly respected specialist in the occupational hygiene and Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) sector seeking an experienced General Manager to lead its next phase of growth. For over two decades, our client has built a strong reputation for delivering LEV design, installation, testing, maintenance, and compliance services across a diverse range of industries, including manufacturing, education, aerospace, transport, healthcare, and highly regulated environments. The Role

Reporting directly to the Company Directors, the General Manager will take responsibility for the operational, financial, and strategic performance of the business. You will provide leadership to a team of approximately 30 employees, ensuring the efficient delivery of projects, statutory inspections, compliance services, and customer support while driving continuous improvement and commercial growth.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and developing operational teams across installation, inspection, and support functions
  • Working closely with management teams to maximise productivity, efficiency, and service quality
  • Conducting site visits throughout the UK to assess standards and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Overseeing statutory LEV inspection activities and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards
  • Reviewing technical reports for accuracy and quality assurance
  • Monitoring business performance, profitability, and margins alongside the Finance Manager
  • Driving growth initiatives, innovation, and operational improvements
  • Ensuring compliance with accreditation schemes, insurance requirements, and company policies
  • Supporting employee development, engagement, and performance management
  • Producing regular management reports and KPI updates for Company Directors
  • Contributing to the strategic direction and future growth of the business

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Significant experience within the Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) industry
  • A proven track record of leadership and business management
  • BOHS qualifications P601 and P602 as a minimum
  • Strong commercial awareness and financial understanding
  • Excellent communication and people management skills
  • Experience managing operational teams and delivering business growth
  • A commitment to maintaining high technical and professional standards
  • The ambition to further develop your standing within the industry and work towards Professional Standards Register membership
