My client is a leading Generator business, supplying both Diesel & Gas Generators installations. They are looking for an experienced Service Engineer to establish a service department for them and be the technical specialist when it comes to Gas Power. Once established, they foresee this role progressing into a Service Manager role overseeing the Service Department.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the creation, implementation, and ongoing supervision of a dedicated Service function within the business.
- Act as the technical authority for Gas Generator systems, supporting installations, troubleshooting, and long-term service strategy.
- Initially operate in a hands-on capacity, carrying out servicing, fault-finding, repairs, overhauls, and commissioning of Gas and Diesel Generators.
- Develop service procedures, documentation, and maintenance schedules to ensure consistency and quality across projects.
- Provide technical support to customers and internal teams, including diagnosing complex faults both on-site and remotely.
- Liaise with suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors to ensure correct parts, technical compliance, and best practice.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Service or Commissioning Engineer working with Gas Generators within the power generation sector.
- Strong hands-on background in servicing, maintaining, fault-finding, and commissioning generator systems.
- Solid technical understanding of gas engines, control systems, and associated electrical/mechanical components.
- West Midlands base, but a commitment needed to travel across the UK.
