This isn't simply an account management role. It's an opportunity to take commercial ownership of one of the most significant customer relationships within a leading UK equipment rental business.

We're recruiting an experienced Major Account Manager to manage and develop a major utilities account across the North West, currently worth approximately £12 million per year. The account is established, substantial and strategically important. Your job will be to protect what's already there, strengthen relationships across the customer organisation and identify opportunities to drive further revenue and profitability.

You'll be joining a major player within the UK equipment rental market, with the product range, operational infrastructure and national support network to deliver at scale.

The Opportunity

You'll take responsibility for the day-to-day commercial relationship with a major UK utilities customer, acting as the key link between the customer and the wider business. This is a highly visible role requiring someone who can operate comfortably at multiple levels – from operational contacts and procurement teams through to senior stakeholders and decision-makers. You'll be expected to understand the customer's business, anticipate requirements, solve problems quickly and ensure the business consistently delivers against its commitments. Just as importantly, you'll be looking for opportunities to grow an already £12m account.

Responsibilities

  • Managing commercial performance
  • Developing relationships across multiple sites and stakeholders
  • Identifying additional revenue opportunities
  • Coordinating with operational teams
  • Monitoring service levels
  • Ensuring the account continues to deliver sustainable, profitable growth

Who Are We Looking For?

We're looking for a commercially sharp, credible and relationship-driven Major Account Manager who is comfortable managing a customer of this size and complexity. You'll ideally come from equipment rental, plant hire, utilities, infrastructure, construction, industrial services or a closely related environment. Experience managing large strategic or national accounts would be highly advantageous. You'll need to be someone who can build relationships without becoming complacent about them. This account needs to be protected, developed and grown. You'll be commercially aware, confident with numbers and comfortable discussing revenue, performance, service levels and opportunities with senior stakeholders. Knowledge of the North West utilities, infrastructure or equipment rental market would be a major advantage.

Why Consider It?

Very few Account Manager positions give you responsibility for a customer relationship already generating approximately £12 million annually. This is a high-profile commercial position where you'll have genuine ownership, significant earning potential and the backing of one of the UK's leading equipment rental businesses. If you've successfully managed major customers within equipment rental, utilities, infrastructure, plant, construction or associated technical services, I'd be keen to speak with you.
