Kettering Health Medical Group employs more than 700 providers, including physicians and advanced practice providers, throughout the Greater Dayton and Cincinnati areas. Our patients have access to a multidisciplinary professional team to meet all their healthcare needs. From primary care to brain and spine surgery, we provide an extensive range of specialties and expertise, in over 200 locations and ten counties. Working collaboratively across specialties, we offer patients a team-based model of care in which the patient is the most important member of the healthcare team.
Under the direction of the provider and/or practice manager, assists in delivering patient care duties and provides administrative support and supervision throughout the practice. This position assists the provider in examination and treatment of patients, performing delegated duties under the provider's supervision. Responsibilities include:
- Interviewing patients
- Measuring vital signs
- Recording information in patients' charts
- Preparing treatment rooms
- Performing duties to enhance efficiency and continuity of patient care
Patient care duties include:
- Preparing patients and exam rooms
- Taking medical history and vitals
- Scheduling appointments
- Explaining processes
- Assisting with procedures (including minor surgery)
- Removing sutures
- Cleaning wounds
- Applying dressings
- Notifying patients of lab results
- Administering shots and immunizations
- Ongoing patient observation
Authorize and dispense medications as prescribed by the provider. Ensure smooth patient flow by coordinating with the practice team. Follow HIPAA guidelines for all patient interactions. Participate in regulatory compliance and quality initiatives while maintaining fiscal accountability. Serve as a resource on patient care policies and act as a liaison between patients, the practice, hospital, and community resources. Manage schedules, time, and attendance; provide coaching and support; collaborate with the practice manager; and assist with disciplinary actions if needed. Provide input on performance evaluations.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited LPN program (or equivalent) with a current Ohio license
- At least 1 year of clinical experience in a medical/physician office setting
- Current Ohio LPN license
- Basic Life Support certification required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Experience in physician practice and use of electronic medical records preferred
- Working knowledge of OSHA guidelines and HIPAA regulations preferred
