We are currently recruiting for a Temporary Catering Manager to join our dynamic team within an NHS hospital setting. This role offers the opportunity to oversee the day-to-day operations of the hospital's catering services on a temporary basis, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, nutritious meals to patients, staff, and visitors.

As the Catering Manager, you will lead a team of catering staff, coordinate food production and service, and maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in compliance with NHS and regulatory guidelines. Your responsibilities will also include managing stock levels, liaising with hospital departments to meet dietary requirements, and ensuring a smooth workflow in a fast-paced hospital environment. This is a temporary position requiring an experienced, flexible, proactive, and compassionate approach to managing catering operations while contributing to the well-being of patients and staff.

Main duties of the job:

  • Lead and manage the Catering services within the Trust.
  • Ensure the delivery of efficient, high-quality catering for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Set and achieve operational goals, continuously reviewing and improving the service to align with the Trust's objectives.
  • Work closely with the Head of Facilities as part of the Senior Soft Services Management Team.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and colleagues.

Person specification:

  • Experience of managing revenue budgets and achieving challenging CIP targets.
  • Graduate level or equivalent in Hospitality Management or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years NHS catering experience or in a similar medium/large scale operation.
  • Advanced level/Diploma in food hygiene.
  • Intermediate qualification in health and safety regulations, COSHH and risk management.
  • Able to prioritise own and others workload within policy and guidelines.

This role does not attract sponsorship and does not meet UKVI guidelines for sponsoring. You must have appropriate UK professional registration. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
