Overview

As a Registrar in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department you will:

  • Take responsibility for the assessment and management of patients on a day-to-day basis, under consultant supervision
  • Participate in daily ward rounds
  • Ensure the effective delivery of care to patients in day case and inpatient theatres (some specialties)
  • Ensure the effective delivery of care to patients in outpatient clinics
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Communicate effectively with clinical, nursing and other colleagues in the provision of patient care
  • Provide supervision and support to colleagues as appropriate for the grade
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate and complete
  • Follow Trust policies and procedures
  • Be punctual and always report to/be available for work at the agreed start time

Application and Recruitment

Applications will be transferred to the TRAC system. By completing an application you authorise the transfer of your data. Correspondence regarding your application will be sent via a TRAC account. If you require a DBS check, the cost (£49.50) will be reclaimed from your first salary. From 1 February 2019 new starters are required to join the DBS update service (annual cost applies). New employees may be subject to a six month probationary period. Please ensure that the information you provide is correct and can be evidenced.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Full GMC Registration
  • MRCOG or equivalent is desirable
  • Participation in the fully compliant Middle Grade Rota, working alongside SAS Doctors and Specialty Registrars
  • Willingness to participate in a shift system including evenings, nights and weekends
  • Supportive supervision by consultants within the department
