Our client, based in West Thurrock, Grays, is looking for an Electrical Technician to join their Engineering Maintenance team. The overall purpose of the role is to provide technical support, leadership and guidance to projects, operations and maintenance. Hours of work would be 35 hour week, Monday-Friday 08:00am – 4.00pm. 1 hour lunch. Duties: * Produce engineering and maintenance procedures for new systems. * Contribute to the continuous improvement of procedures. * Execute safety critical equipment routines ensuring correct installation, checks and precautions are taken * Ensure that all contractors working on the site comply with site rules and regulations. * Recommend and ensure actions on incident reports are recorded * Monitor and report on consumable stock levels. * Ensure inspections, defects and repairs are recorded on the site maintenance control forms * Complete planned and unplanned electrical maintenance activities on site * Various inspections including but not limited to; MCC inspections and hazardous area inspections / IR testing / RCD testing / electric heat tracing testing / LV fixed wiring DB inspection * Supervise contractor inspections e.g. cathodic protection, transformer inspections/HV inspections/breaker testing * Providing electrical engineering support and fault finding to ensure operational performance of plant is optimised. * Troubleshooting MCC faults / Earth faults / Motor faults * Day to day management of ongoing maintenance tasks completed by E&I contract companies * Ensuring suitable competency of all electrical contractors working onsite. * Perform electrical isolations and complete isolation certificates * Maintaining a stock of critical electrical equipment and assisting in the assessment process. * Part of On-Call rota providing emergency engineering support to plant * Competent, safe and accurate completion of all allocated tasks is required to maintain the quality performance of the company. Requirements: * BTEC/NVQ or equivalent in Electrical Engineering discipline or time served apprenticeship. * COMPEX 01, 02, 03, 04 certified. * BS7671 (Latest Edition) * Ideal candidates will come from a Chemical /Petrochemical and/or Manufacturing background. Additional information/benefits: * Pension. Employer 9%, Employee 5%. * Bupa health insurance.
