About The Role
This role will be responsible for leading the Billing, Credit Control, Accounts Payable and Working Capital/Cash Management teams. An important part of this role initially will be to assess current state of play and implement a roadmap to change controls and processes going forward. The role reports to the CFO. A successful candidate will ensure the accurate and timely issuance of invoices, as well as working with our transformation team to design and implement global, automated processes across all our practices. There are several practice migrations taking place currently and the successful candidate will have experience in guiding a team to implement the right strategy for success. AP process improvements are underway and this role will oversee the AP Manager and team. Cash Management is a key responsibility, essential for a leveraged pe-backed group, and the Head of Working Capital also reports into this role. This is a senior position in the Finance team, and you will be expected to be a role model for those you’re managing and a key point of contact within the business.
Your Part to Play
- You will oversee all transactional processes covering billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable and working capital across the Group.
- You will be instrumental in centralising and building out the transactional teams, optimising efficiencies and improving delivery.
- You will identify opportunities for automation to improve efficiency, ensuring ‘clean’ ledgers with reliable data and enabling prompt reporting of balances at period-ends.
- Oversight of cash payments, collections and cash balances, reviewing and presenting short term weekly cash forecasts.
- Drive business ownership for debt collection and cash performance through providing KPI’s and metrics with aim of reducing debtor days.
- Develop policy and process documents in order for knowledge share to take place across the billing, AP and credit control teams.
- Ensure compliance with policies.
- Manage the customer ticketing service and reduce the number of tickets open at any given time.
- Be a key point of contact during the audit for billing, AP and credit control support.
- Driving a culture of continuous improvement and best practice processes.
- Develop and implement a vision for your teams and track against KPIs that you identify.
- Overall responsibility for the STCF weekly reporting and continuous improvement of this process over time.
- Identify any redesign requirements within the departments to ensure high performance within the team.
All About You
- You will be a qualified accountant with a minimum of 6 years experience in financial operations, having successfully managed a team previously through a significant period of change.
- A track record of strengthening and retaining a high performing team through recruitment, training and development.
- Have experience developing and coaching a billing and credit control team, and ensuring the importance of communication between both teams’ is central to the success of the team.
- A strong background and previous experience of system migrations and implementations, as well as a track record of success in automating processes that were previously manual.
- Have excellent knowledge of collections and debt recovery strategies.
- Be able to demonstrate positive movement in debt collection balances in previous roles.
- Have previous working capital management experience linked to predicting future billings, cash collection expectations and taking part in the cashflow forecasting process on a regular basis.
- Treasury experience would be helpful.
