Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of Housing Disrepair claims from instruction through to completion
- Draft and prepare legal documents including pleadings, witness statements, and correspondence
- Conduct legal research and provide clear, practical advice to clients
- Handle pre- and post-issue matters, including full litigation processes
- Draft Letters of Claim and liaise with defendants, experts, and opposing solicitors
- Assess liability and quantum, obtain expert evidence, and prepare schedules of loss
- Negotiate settlements and represent clients at hearings, mediations, and settlement meetings where required
- Maintain consistent and supportive communication with clients throughout the lifecycle of each case
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and procedural rules
- Work collaboratively within a target-driven team environment
- Supervise junior team members where appropriate
- Keep up to date with relevant legislation, case law, and procedural developments
The Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive (or extensive experience fee earning within housing disrepair)
- Experience handling Housing Disrepair or civil litigation matters
- Strong understanding of CPR, pre-action protocols, and litigation procedures
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload efficiently and accurately
- Confident working both independently and as part of a team
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Client-focused approach with the ability to support vulnerable individuals
- Experience with case management systems (experience with Proclaim is advantageous)
