A well-established law firm is looking for an Assistant Lawyer / Solicitor to join its specialist Crime team. You will work alongside experienced lawyers on a varied caseload of motor crime matters, ranging from road traffic offences through to dangerous driving, serious injury and manslaughter cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and analysing prosecution evidence
  • Drafting witness statements and legal submissions
  • Advising and supporting clients throughout investigations and proceedings
  • Attending police station interviews under caution
  • Liaising with courts, regulators, experts and other stakeholders
  • Preparing defence case statements, reports and case bundles
  • Assisting with trials and inquests alongside Counsel
  • Conducting legal research and detailed case preparation
  • Attending incident sites and gathering evidence where required
  • Managing client relationships and providing clear, practical legal advice

About You

You will be a qualified Solicitor with criminal law and/or motor crime experience who is keen to develop their career within this specialist area. The role would suit an NQ 1 PQE Solicitor, ideally with 6-12 months criminal experience. You will ideally have:

  • Experience in criminal defence and/or motor crime
  • A background in legal aid and criminal defence is highly desirable
  • Strong organisation skills
