The Role
You will be responsible for managing a high-volume housing disrepair caseload, working closely with fee earners and playing an integral role in the smooth running and future development of the costs function. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparation and drafting of bills of costs
- Drafting and responding to points of dispute
- Handling Part 8 proceedings
- Negotiating costs confidently and robustly
- Assisting fee earners with general costs-related enquiries
- Contributing to the development and improvement of internal processes and workflows
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience as a Costs Draftsman / Costs Lawyer
- Housing Disrepair (HDR) experience is desirable
- Comfortable managing a high-volume workload
- Strong technical knowledge across all aspects of costs
- Confident negotiator with a commercial mindset
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and collaborative
- Willing to be office-based and embedded within the wider team
