The Role
The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload across a range of costs matters, working closely with clients to provide strategic and practical advice. The role offers a high level of responsibility, exposure to quality instructions and the opportunity to develop within a specialist costs practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Drafting inter partes Bills of Costs and Solicitors’ Bills
- Preparing Points of Dispute and Replies
- Negotiating costs and engaging with opposing costs representatives
- Advising clients on costs recovery, risk and strategy
- Assisting with detailed assessment and costs hearings where required
- Building strong, long-term client relationships
Candidate Profile
Essential
- Experience as a Costs Draftsman or qualified Costs Lawyer
- Experience drafting a bill of costs
Desirable
- Experience with preparing points of dispute and/or replies
- Experience with negotiating costs
- Strong technical knowledge of costs law and procedure
- Ability to manage a caseload with minimal supervision
