Who We Are Looking For

As a User Researcher you will create clear, user-centered content experiences. You’ll put the user at the centre of everything you do, delivering seamless and inclusive end-to-end services. You’ll happily flex between content design and interaction design, including some prototyping. Much of your work will be for our Public Sector clients, helping users complete their goal and government deliver policy intent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, conduct, and analyse user research using a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Translate research findings into actionable insights to improve user experience.
  • Work closely with UX designers, content designers, and developers to ensure user needs are met.
  • Advocate for a user-centred approach across the organisation.
  • Develop research plans and recruit participants for studies.
  • Conduct usability testing, interviews, surveys, and workshops.
  • Synthesise findings into compelling reports and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in user research.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a User Researcher or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Ability to analyse and synthesise research findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Experience conducting usability testing and user interviews.
  • Experience working within government digital service (GDS) standards.
  • Familiarity with accessibility and inclusive design principles.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an Agile environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience using research tools such as Optimal Workshop or similar.

Desirable Skills

  • Ability to flex across broader UX roles – ‘T-shaped’ skills and experience
  • Knowledge of behavioural psychology and human-centred design principles.
  • Familiarity with data analytics and metrics.
  • Experience using design and prototyping tools such as Figma and GDS prototyping toolkit.
