The Opportunity

My client is recruiting for an experienced Costs Draftsperson to join a well-established and growing legal services organisation based in Liverpool. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive team environment while managing your own caseload and contributing to the successful delivery of high-quality costs services. The position is ideally suited to someone with strong drafting experience, excellent attention to detail, and a proactive approach to achieving outstanding results. You will play a key role in supporting legal teams by preparing accurate bills of costs, primarily within Clinical Negligence/ Personal Injury matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed and accurate bills of costs using CostsMaster software.
  • Manage an individual caseload efficiently, ensuring all deadlines and service standards are met.
  • Provide specialist costs support and guidance to legal colleagues across the business.
  • Collaborate with team members and management to achieve departmental objectives and performance targets.
  • Monitor case progression and ensure drafting work is completed in line with client and business expectations.
  • Maintain a high standard of accuracy, quality, and compliance in all work produced.
  • Apply knowledge of legal procedures, costs legislation, and relevant regulations to support successful outcomes.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of team processes and working practices.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

The Ideal Candidate:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • At least 12 months' experience in a Costs Draftsperson or Bill Drafting position.
  • Proven experience using CostsMaster software.
  • A solid understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR), costs law, relevant legislation, and industry regulations.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A motivated, professional, and solution-focused approach to your work.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Qualified Costs Lawyer status or a relevant degree-level qualification.
  • Experience using Proclaim case management software.
