Kersia, a global leader in biosecurity and food safety incorporates Holchem Laboratories Limited, specialist manufacturers of detergents and disinfectants. Kersia provides a unique technical hygiene service to the Food and Service Industries. We are recruiting for an experienced and proactive HSE Manager, based at our manufacturing site in Bury and providing cover to our Rochdale site, to become a lead member within the UK HSE team. In addition to site-based activities, the UK HSE team supports our field-based colleagues and engages with the wider Kersia group.
As part of our HSE team, the successful candidate will have responsibility for proactively promoting safety, quality, environmental and sustainability standards and assurance of compliance with regulatory and other relevant requirements:
- Provide safety advice and support the organisation to meet statutory, regulatory, and other requirements.
- Evaluate compliance with the legislation, policies and best practice, by ensuring that the relevant sections of the legal register are kept up to date.
- Compile and report safety and environmental performance data, objectives and PSPIs.
- Collaborate with departmental managers to promote HSE in daily operations.
- Take an active role within the UK SHEQ team to develop, implement and maintain the Integrated Management system, including: the continuous development and implementation of the Process Safety Management System (COMAH); safety, legal and other UK or international standards (ISO 9001, 45001 and 14001); maintaining the site’s safety report.
- Represent the company in discussions, meetings, and audits with the HSE, BSI, EA, United Utilities, etc.
- Attend and chair regular internal management, Safety, COMAH, and any other ad hoc meetings when required.
- Engage with colleagues, provide safety training, and campaigns.
Qualifications:
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
- Ability to be flexible with working hours.
- Environmental qualification or equivalent (desirable).
- Relevant experience in COMAH and chemical manufacturing or similar environment.
- Full driving license and willing to travel on occasion to other sites.
- Experience of managing all aspects of health and safety.
- IT literate with a good understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a wider HSE team.
