The Candidate

Reporting directly to the Accounts/Payroll Manager, you must have a friendly and approachable manner with well-developed verbal skills when liaising with staff, suppliers, bankers, and accountants. Accuracy and reliability are essential, along with the ability to handle all situations appropriately. You should be able to work independently and as part of a team under supervisory direction and review.

Duties

  • Liaising with colleagues regarding incoming monies – notification of received monies, postings, and general queries.
  • Processing online bank payments, including BACS, CHAPS, Faster Payments, and International Payments – both inputting and ensuring appropriate authorisation.
  • Managing inter-account transfers – moving monies from client account to office account for bills and disbursements.
  • Processing receipts, payments, invoices, write-offs, expenses, and daily banking.
  • Performing daily bank reconciliations.
  • Managing the Purchase Ledger – recording and paying invoices when due.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and Money Laundering Regulations at all times.
  • Registering and reporting possible breaches to the COFA.
  • Helping ensure fee earners and support staff comply with the firm’s internal cashiering regulations.
